Waar gaat het over?

Let's Dance is an account of a Self-Other ethnography on educational relations in higher education. It is an example of reflective practitioner research from a critical relational perspective and at the same time a reflection on reflective practitioner research. Loes Houweling researches her own practice and explores the possibilities to develop educational relations in more collaborative learning relations, as both educator of students in a Master's program in pedagogy, and as doctoral student of her supervisors. The title Let's Dance refers to the metaphor of the Argentine tango which recurs throughout the texts. The author uses the metaphor to illustrate educational relations as well as to question these relations.

Dancing with Others opens up dominant perspectives and creates other Self-Other relations and likewise other educational relations. Self-Other ethnography is proposed as a reflective research in which the researcher invites Others, including other selves, to dance. Not only does Loes Houweling recommend Self-Other ethnography, she brings it into practice. And she offers the readers opportunities to reflect on their own relational practice, in which they might be constructed or construct themselves as educator, as student, as manager in higher education, or as researcher.
